The Catholic community of Marfa was first established in 1875 when Spanish missionaries built Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission. The population of Marfa and surrounding area grew and the mission became a parish in 1889. This piece commemorates that small building that once stood just outside the western city limits. The bracelet is made with green turquoise gemstones and green river shell beads, accented with silver melon beads and Swarovski crystals, and sterling silver rope toggle. The centerpiece is a religious medal depicting Our Lady of Guadalupe on the front and the Santo Nino de Atocha on the back. We will make a donation to St. Mary’s Church for every bracelet that is sold.
