The Grotto
As we celebrate the 150th Jubilee year of the apparitions of Our Lady of Lourdes to Saint Bernadette in Lourdes, France, we must also recognize a symbol of the Catholic faithful in Marfa. The sculpture of The Grotto stands at the front entrance of the Catholic Church in Marfa. It has greeted parishioners and visitors for generations. This bracelet is made with Blue Lapis gemstones, river shell beads and Aqua Swarovski crystals, symbolizing the water that has become a focus of devotion to the Virgin Mary at Lourdes. It is also accented with silver melon beads and a sterling silver toggle. The centerpiece is a religious medal depicting Our Lady of Lourdes at the grotto with Saint Bernadette praying at the Virgin’s feet, and Saint Bernadette depicted on the back of the medal. We will make a donation to St. Mary’s Church for every bracelet that is sold.
