As you drive into Marfa from the east on Highway 90, you will cross over Alamito Creek. Since prehistoric times, this tributary of the Rio Grande was a major north-south travel route. Spaniards traveled through the Alamito basin as they explored the Big Bend region in the 16th century. This area was later inhabited by Native American tribes such as the Jumano and Mescalero Apache. This jewelry is made with Red Jasper and Turquoise beads accented by silver barrel beads and sterling silver rope toggles and earring wires.
